August Update (and we have eggs!)

Happy Friday! I hope you have had a wonderful week so far, and life is starting to return to normal for you wherever you are. Our thoughts are with those in lockdown in Melbourne and surrounds.

This month has brought some excitement here at the Aviaries, with both quakers and conures on eggs thus far in the season. We get a number of messages each week from excited new clients waiting eagerly to add a new friend to their family this season. Whether it be a quaker, a green-cheeked conure or a corella, we have you covered! Make sure you're following our Facebook Page for additional updates.

Currently, we have two pairs of quakers and one pair of conures on eggs. Two of our younger pairs of quakers are busy building their nests and feeding each-other, as well as another handful of our conure pairs. The corellas have been shredding their nesting material and small sticks and spending a large amount of the day in their hollow. We anticipate we will have babies hatching in roughly a week-and-a-half to two weeks and can't wait to see which colours and sexes they are. While we can determine what the genetic probabilities will be from a pairing, the great joy is the surprise of which colours have been passed on this time.

In the meantime, feel free to check out the resources we have here on our website, if you are thinking of adding a new family member in the coming months:

Until next time,
